Sikkim is considered a hot spot of biodiversity in the Himalayas.

Sikkim's extreme altitudinal variation brings in tremendous change in climatic conditions that in turn supports the biodiversity of different heights. 

In some places one can reach Alpine zone just in an hour from a temperate one, where as in other places one can spend hours in meadows or ravine, which provides an ample opportunity to relax and add to birds count. 

Unlike in most parts of the Himalayas, Sikkim provides birds life in mere 7300sq.kms ranging in 200 meters to 8848meters of height that is in comparison to non.

Sikkim’s border stretches to plateau of Tibet (China), Plains of India, Nepal and Bhutan Himalayas, which in turn brings in migratory birds of all regions in different seasons. 

4000 species of flowering plants, 180 lakes, numerous rivers & streams give a good support to 600 species of birds in this tiny land locked area. 

Sharp hills covered with rich vegetations shelter residential as well the migrant birds. 

Cormorant, Ibis, Hornbill found in 200 meters down below, further one ascends, in an hour varieties of Bulbul, Tits, Thrushes, Hoopoe, Cuckoo Shrike chirp and fly off. 

Another hour of travel, topography of the region gives an opportunity to spot soaring Serpent Eagle, Chougs, Ravens etc. Satyr Tragopan, Monal pheasant shyly moves inside the rhododendron bush.
